AROUND PERCEPTION: LIGHT/SOUND
American filmmaker BRUCE CONNER is one of the leading exponents of experimental cinema. Like several avant-garde filmmakers of his generation, his work shares obvious affinities with American avant-garde music: loops, repetitions, reuse, experimentation with duration, etc. One shouldn’t be surprised that he called on TERRY RILEY’s music three times in the course of his career. This program provides a rather unique opportunity to discover three major works of experimental cinema and three facets of CONNER’s filmmaking through the lens of RILEY’s music.
